"A place to believe, a place to belong; a place to grow and a place to serve."
New Communicant Classes
Taking the decision to join the Church is a very significant step in the life of a Christian. Here in Old Gourock and Ashton we try to run exploratory meetings twice a year where we consider together issues of faith and belief, the Trinity – God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the life and characteristics of Jesus of Nazareth, what it means to be a Christian, early church history, the Books of the Bible, and the importance of prayer.
This may all sound like a little too much to take in but the meetings are very relaxed and we meet in the spirit of knowing that none of us have all the right or wrong answers but are on a journey of faith together.
If you are interested in attending these meetings, or know of someone who would be, then please watch the weekly service sheet for the intimation.
Vows of Church Membership
I BELIEVE in one God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
And I confess Jesus Christ
As my Saviour and Lord.
I PROMISE to join regularly with my fellow
Christians in worship on the Lord’s day.
I PROMISE to be faithful in reading the Bible and in prayer.
I PROMISE to give a fitting proportion of my time, talents and money for the Church’s work in the world.
I PROMISE, depending on the grace of God,
to confess Christ before men,
to serve Him in my daily work, and to walk in His ways all the days of my life.
